Best Places to Visit and Things to Do in Hampshire
Enjoy jaunts in the New Forest or on the Solent, to Southampton, to Winchester or to any of the many historic, entertaining, family-friendly events and attractions nearby.

Research suggests that the British prefer to stay in their hotels rather than explore the locality. That’s perfectly understandable at Hotel TerraVina. The cosy residents’ lounge with comfy sofas and intimate corners is always tempting; a chic retreat for a coffee and a chat or even full afternoon tea. The heated swimming pool (open seasonally) is always popular with residents in the summer; there are plenty of loungers. Combine all this with the hotel's location in the New Forest and it's easy to see why many regard it as the most appealing of New Forest hotels.

However, there’s so much on the doorstep, especially the natural splendour of the New Forest, including leisurely walks, beautiful gardens such Exbury Gardens and Furzey Gardens, National Trust Houses and Gardens, and for families with small children, there's Peppa Pig World. There are also demanding hikes, mountain-biking, horse-riding, windsurfing, playing golf, bird-watching and beaches.

There's also New Park, home to the New Forest and Hampshire County Show and the New Forest Polo Club, as well as red and fallow deer, which can also be seen, along with many other animals, at the Otter Owl & Wildlife Park. Talking of animals, there's also Marwell Wildlife Park . If you fancy a little wine tasting, then you'll find a visit to Setley Ridge Vineyard in the New Forest most rewarding.

There are chic shops in nearby Southampton, Winchester and Bournemouth, plus the many local boutiques in the New Forest’s pretty towns and villages, such as Lyndhurst, Lymington, Brockenhurst, Buckler's Hard and Beaulieu.

As you might expect, there are some superb National Trust Properties in Hampshire and Hotel TerraVina is also well located for visiting Broadlands, home of Lord Mountbatten. Hotel TerraVina is also near Southampton Airport but far enough away that you can't hear any planes. Also, the five campuses of Southampton University are within easy reach, as is the Hampshire County Cricket Ground at the Ageas Bowl near Southampton.

There are also national and international events that take place locally, such as Cowes Week, the  Southampton Boat Show and the International Auto Jumble. On the subject of cars we like this website..... They often send guests our way and they always arrive in super, very stylish and beautiful cars. If you would prefer the idea of cycling through the forest, located close to the hotel is Forest Leisure Cycling.. Based in the village of Burley and situated close to the cycling trails. Friendly, expert adive, detailed Cycle Route maps and a massive hire fleet catering for all ages and abilities. There is also a fully stocked Cycle Store, offering cycling accessories, spares and repairs. Free parking, open 7 days a week and on line booking available. Call 01425 403 584 or

Hotel TerraVina is also near most of the private independent boarding schools in Hampshire, including Boundary Oak School, Hampshire Collegiate School, Hordle Walhampton School, Moyles Court School, West Hill Park Prep School and Winchester School.

Hotel TerraVina is ideally located for visitors to take advantage of all the activities and places to visit in the New Forest and Hampshire
