Michelin Star Chef, Alan Murchison and World Best Sommelier, Gerard Basset OBE, will host a very special prestige dinner at L’ortolan. Alan is the founder of L’ortolan and the inspiration behind 10in8 Fine Dining group of restaurants and Gerard is the co-founder of Hotel du Vin and Hotel TerraVina. Alan and Gerard are business partners and have been friends for more than 10 years.
Prior to setting up L’ortolan, Alan worked at Le Manoir aux Quats Saison, with Raymond Blanc and Gerard, before his Hotel du Vin venture, was Head Sommelier at the famed Chewton Glen Hotel.
The seven course menu will be devised by Alan, whilst Gerard will select the wines to match. Of course, during dinner Alan will comment on the food and Gerard the wines, but more than that, they will talk about their careers with some behind the scene stories. There will be opportunities to ask them both questions and this will be a relaxed and informal evening of great food, wine and entertaining stories.
